Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a public speaking event organizer. Feminist Frequency is a website that hosts videos and commentaries on the representation of female characters in popular media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic, blogger and award-winning feminist for over 10 years. Feminist Frequency is an educational non-profit website that investigates representations of women in the popular media narratives. Committed to deconstructing the stereotypes of women that have been portrayed in pop culture, she works to highlight issues related to harassment targeted at women as well as other classes of individuals in the internet environment. Holding a master's degree in political and social thought from York University Sarkeesian is also a much sought-after public presenter and has presented speech at the TEDxWomen Festival as well as at the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Feminist Frequency was launched in 2009 by Sarkeesian, an undergraduate student at York University who had been interested in issues related to gender and feminism for quite a long period of. It was a girl with a dream to develop an online series that would examine gender roles in video games. But, she was the target of cyber-bullying. Her determination was not slowed by the harassment, actually, it just reinforced her desire to become a media critic and feminist. As a result of the many achievements she's made for feminism, she is the recipient of numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winner for her work as a media journalist. She is also the creator and director of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit group that focuses on pop-culture representations of females.
